A quiet book about an enormous mistake
Nothing happens and everything happens. Stevens tells you the truth in the exact moment he is trying hardest to avoid it, which is a very difficult trick to pull off for 245 pages. I took one star off only because the Darlington subplot resolves a little too neatly for me.
